Dec 22, 2009 - No, you're wrong. Chutney was created in Trinidad as a fusion of calypso and traditional Bhojpuri songs and that included the use of English in the songs. It was Sundar Popo who really is the father of chutney. Suriname just continued the "baithak gana" that originated in UP/Bihar regions of India and are still sung there. So you can't just assume what Ramdeo Chaitoe sung was chutney, its actual same style of composition still sung in the same manner and same beats in India.

Apr 16, 2009 - tamil in the western world usually refers 2 Sri Lanka, this is so cos of the relatively high Sri Lankan population in Western countries. thats probably why Sarika got it wrong.

Jul 11, 2008 - Where the fuck is that coming from, punk? Where did u go to school? Mix of russians, mongols & east africans!! Are u out of ur bloody mind? These guys & most of ur ancestors were still wearing tree barks & eating horse shit when India was at the zenith of its culture & civilization. This is hilarious. F**king punks like u trying to give us indians a history lesson. We were the original melting pot but most indians are still purer than most of u half-bred, mixed breed mongrels in the americas.

flubberge Says:

Jul 11, 2008 - dey say da same words over and over again

pushpanjali Says:

Jul 11, 2008 - it doesn't matter where you're from, you should try to learn more about the entire world. you don't need to know everything but general facts are important. people with close-minded attitudes like yours will never have intellectual conversations.

pushpanjali Says:

Jul 11, 2008 - Do you know where I can find the English translation for this song? I googled but didn't seem to see it anywhere. Thanks.

pushpanjali Says:

Jul 11, 2008 - Thanks* not that's :)

pushpanjali Says:

Jul 11, 2008 - That's for the info about the song and the chutney remixed version. I do agree that it was ignorant on Sarika's part to not know something so important about a song that her group used. But if people don't do extra reading and research on their own they won't know anything since from my experience it's not common knowledge that India is such a diverse country. I've meet too many people who think Indian is a language lol.
